Description This 5/8 Barbarossa Shavette straight razor features a short blade of approximately 52 mm in length. This version has a carbon steel satin finished full hollowed blade which features the Barbarossa motif. The scales are a very attractive faux tortoiseshell bearing the Dovo Solingen mark. This version has a round point blade making it easier to move around the face. We also stock a version with a spanish point at IE010158. According to Dovo, the word “shavette” is being used here in it’s true meaning of “small razor”, hence this razor has a fixed blade and does not have the interchangeable blades which you would normally associate with the word shavette. “Barbarossa” means red beard in Italian and the razor seems to be named after Frederick I, known as Frederick Barbarossa, who was a 12th Century King of Germany and who became one of the most celebrated Holy Roman Emperors.
